Helical Systems Announces HHArchive Beta 1
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, August 8, 2000 - Helical Systems Limited today announced that beta 1 of their HHArchive product is available for testing. This release is the first step in a multiphase plan to produce a very large geospatial data warehousing solution.

About HHArchive

The rate of data acquisition has experienced exponential growth in recent

years. For example, there are programs that deploy a variety of satellite, airborne, and shipborne sensors for the intensive mapping of landforms and the seafloor. These programs are collecting vast quantities of data that exceed terabytes (TB, 1000 gigabytes) to petabytes (PB, 1000 terabytes) in range. They produce enormously large scientific data holdings with substantial requirements for archival and retrieval facilities.

Helical Systems, recognizing the need for efficient management of extremely large data sets, has developed the HHArchive product. The HHArchive is a reliable, long term, distributed archive designed to handle massive quantities of multidimensional geospatial data. It provides extremely fast data storage and retrieval times, with little or no degradation with increased data set size.

The HHArchive was designed to meet the demands of today's data collection systems and to scale to meet the demands of the future.

More information about the HHArchive may be found at http://www.helical.ns.ca/products/hharchive.

Beta Program Available

Helical Systems is offering an evaluation and testing program for the HHArchive Beta 1. The program will allow beta testers to provide feedback to refine and improve the HHArchive product.

Interested parties can sign up for this program starting August 8 on the Helical Systems web site at http://www.helical.ns.ca/products/hharchive/beta. A limited number of beta testers will be accepted.

More information on this program may be requested from betatest@helical.ns.ca.
