DMTI Spatial(tm) Presents the First Annual Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) Award
MARKHAM, ON August 16, 2000 - DMTI Spatial Inc., Canada's leading spatial solutions provider and proud employer of Canada's most talented GIS professionals, is pleased to announce its further contribution to the future of the geospatial industry through the presentation of the company's first Annual COGS Award.

"We think this award will help our students to achieve success in the rapidly expanding Business GIS sector," said Dr. Ela Dramowicz, Professor at the Centre of Geographic Sciences, a division of the Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College. "Many geomatics awards are presented each year at COGS and this one in particular further emphasizes how the broader geomatics community is supporting our various education and training programs.

"DMTI Spatial is doing exceptional work in the field of high technology programming and training and we're proud to be associated with one of Canada's most outstanding firms through the establishment of this annual award."

"We initiated this annual DMTI Spatial Award for a leading student at COGS to show our commitment to education and the development of our future employees," said David Roach, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at DMTI Spatial Inc.

"COGS blends curriculum programming in the Geomatics and Information Technology areas into one cohesive unit focused on high technology programming and industrial training. We support this strategy to educating students who want a career in our industry. The academic skills and technical knowledge gained through this approach will be invaluable to us as we develop new growth opportunities for the company."

The winner of DMTI Spatial's inaugural COGS Award for the Best Analytical Project in Business Geographics, titled Location Optimization and Trade Area Analysis in Nova Scotia for Sobey's Inc., was Steven Dickie. Mr. Dickie, from Charlottetown, PEI, is an alumnus of Mount Allison University and a graduating student in the Business Geographics Advanced Diploma Program at COGS.
