ArcExplorer 2 Is Now Available
Redlands, California-ESRI, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, announced today that the latest Windows version of its popular GIS data viewer can now be downloaded for free from ESRI’s Web site at www.esri.com/arcexplorer. One of the greatest advantages of ArcExplorer 2 is its support for a wide range of image formats such as MrSID, GeoTIFF, GIF, NITF, SVF, CRP, CIB, ADRG, and many others. In addition, ArcExplorer 2 now offers support for VPF military format and CAD formats (DGN, DXF, and DWG), and it can be used with ArcSDE 8.0.2, the newest version of ESRI’s Spatial Database Engine. Another significant feature of ArcExplorer 2 is that it includes powerful address matching functions based on ESRI’s MapObjects 2 geocoder. All of these new capabilities are covered in the updated online help that comes with ArcExplorer 2.

“This new release of ArcExplorer extends the functionality of what is already one of the most popular GIS applications in the world,” says Bernie Szukalski, ESRI’s product manager for ArcExplorer. “We have enhanced the software to make it even more useful.” ArcExplorer is an easy and cost-effective tool for simple viewing of GIS data sets. With more than a million copies in use today, ArcExplorer is used for a variety of display, query, and data retrieval applications. One of its greatest benefits is that software publishers can freely distribute ArcExplorer with their data CDs, providing users with an easy way to view and query data effectively.

ArcExplorer 2 works with Windows 98 or higher and Windows NT 4 or higher. For more information, visit ESRI’s Web site at www.esri.com/arcexplorer.

For more than thirty years, ESRI has been the leading developer of geographic information system (GIS) software with more than 300,000 clients worldwide. ESRI also provides consulting, implementation, and technical support services. In addition to its headquarters in California, ESRI has regional offices throughout the United States, international distributors in more than ninety countries, and more than 1,050 business partners. ESRI’s goal is to provide users with comprehensive tools to help them quickly and efficiently manage and use geographic information to make a real difference in the world around them. ESRI can be found on the Web at www.esri.com.
