Governor Thompson Acknowledges UCLID Software, Recipient of the “Best of
State” New Product Award
Madison, WI – UCLID Software President and CEO Curt Szymanski was greeted
with praise and humor as he accepted the “Best of State” New Product Award
from Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson.
As Szymanski stepped forward to accept the award, Governor Thompson asked
with a smile, “Do we have the next Microsoft on our hands?” Thompson
praised Szymanski for the accomplishments and achievements he had made at
such a young age and remarked on UCLID’s promising future and many
opportunities for future successes. Governor Thompson then offered his
official chair to Szymanski as the group posed for photos.
The Governor’s New Product Award seeks to recognize the contributions of
engineers and scientists to economic growth and development in Wisconsin.
UCLID’s IcoMap software, a complete solution for accurately converting paper
maps, deeds, and legal descriptions into digital files, was honored as a
superior and unique product that stands to make a positive impact on the
Wisconsin economy.
Founded in March 1998 by Mr. Curt Szymanski, UCLID Software LLC is one of
the first initiatives backed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s
Weinert Applied Ventures and Entrepreneurship (WAVE) program. In a short
period of time, UCLID has established a reputation as an industry leader in
text-to-vector conversion software with its patented Mathematical Content
Recognition (MCR) technology.
Through the efforts of the Wisconsin Land Information Association and the
Wisconsin Land Information Board, Wisconsin has given considerable attention
to land records. “It’s no coincidence that Wisconsin communities are
repeatedly recognized as great places to live,” said Szymanski. “With the
system of land management in place, and the efforts to always stay on the
forefront of land use and planning, Wisconsin will continue to be a great
place to live, work and grow a family.”
