TRAVEL PRODUCT TECHNICAL SPEC NOW AVAILABLE FOR NAV SYSTEM DEVELOPERS
Navigation Technologies announces availability of document to auto & nav system manufacturers

CHICAGO, IL. - A technical reference document that will assist automobile and navigation system manufacturers in developing GPS-based travel information products using editorial content from Fodor's Travel Publications, Inc. is now available from Navigation Technologies.

Navigation Technologies' customers can contact their sales representative for further details about the technical specification and pricing, all of which is available upon request. Fodor's and Navigation Technologies entered into a licensing agreement last year to develop GPS-based travel information products for in-vehicle navigation systems.

Navigation Technologies, creators of NAVTECH ON BOARD maps -- the world's most widely used map information for in-vehicle navigation systems -- is developing navigation databases that feature information from Fodor's Gold Guides for the United States and Canada. The NAVTECH databases, which are expected to be introduced in the first half of 2000, will feature Fodor's editorial content for restaurant, hotel, and tourist information.

The products will allow a motorist to access Fodor's recommendations and reviews of restaurants, hotels, or tourist attractions. The reviews will include such information as historical perspective of the site or location, activities and entertainment, hours of operation, whether reservations are required, whether an attraction is kid-friendly, and a price guide.

"We're very pleased to make our content available to users of new travel products such as in-vehicle navigational systems, said Brent Peich, Director of New Media, Fodor's Travel Publications. "We're also very pleased to be associated with Navigation Technologies, whose databases are known for their unrivaled accuracy, depth, and reliability."

"The relationship between these two important companies will create a valuable new navigation tool for motorists," said Andy Donchak, Vice President, Marketing, Navigation Technologies. "Not only will the navigation system get you to your destination, it will offer you the Fodor's recommendations on what to do when you get there."

The new travel information product will provide coverage for the United States, Canada, and in-depth city information for top metropolitan cities and tourist areas. Fodor's Gold Guides are America's premier travel guides targeted to both business and pleasure travelers.

Fodor's Travel Publications, a division of Random House, Inc., a Bertelsmann AG company is the world's largest English-language travel guidebook publisher in the world with more than 300 titles in print. Some of its popular lines include The Gold Guides, Fodor's upCLOSE, Fodor's Best Bed and Breakfasts and Compass America Guides. For information, visit the Fodor's web site at www.fodors.com.
