CARTERRA(tm) Geo Products Provide Customers with Detailed, Digital Images
Anywhere on the Globe
DENVER, Colo., January 4, 2000 - Space Imaging announced today the
introduction of its CARTERRA(tm) Geo product line. For the first time,
satellite images of the Earth are commercially available in the sharp
detail of one-meter resolution, meaning objects larger than one meter
(three feet) in size can be seen. This is significantly more detail than
has ever been available in commercial satellite imagery before. Customers
can define their specific areas of interest of any location on the Earth's
surface, and receive products within days of image collection.
"There is a wealth of applications for our CARTERRA Geo products - from
urban and rural planning, to use as image backdrops for updating
Geographic Information System (GIS) databases, to agriculture productivity
monitoring and rapid emergency response," said Brian Soliday, vice
president of North American sales and marketing for Space Imaging.
"Customers can order images of essentially any geographic location in the
world. If we have the image in our archive, we'll ship it within three
days. Otherwise, we'll collect the image and deliver it three days after
collection. Our only limitation is cloud cover."
CARTERRA Geo products are available in one-meter resolution
black-and-white (panchromatic) and four-meter resolution color
(multispectral) imagery. The color imagery is comprised of four bands:
blue, green, red and near-infrared. These are geometrically referenced
products that have been corrected to a datum and map projection. The
correction process removes image distortions and re-samples the imagery to
a uniform ground sample distance and a specified map projection. CARTERRA
Geo products are ideally suited for applications where quick delivery is
crucial.
CARTERRA Geo products are available as 11-bit black-and-white and 11-bit
color. 11-bit imagery corresponds to 2048 shades of gray per pixel,
compared to 256 shades of gray per pixel in 8-bit traditional aerial
imagery. 11 bit data gives customers a richer dynamic range, providing an
enhanced ability to distinguish detail in shadows and brightly lit areas.
Pricing for CARTERRA Geo Products
