Brinker International to Work with Cognizant for the Application Management of Restaurant and Catering Systems
TEANECK, N.J., Jan. 14, 2000 - One of Fortune's Most Admired Companies Picks Forbes Number One
to Support Operational Systems
Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation (Nasdaq:CTSH) today announced an
agreement to provide a variety of IT services to Brinker International (NYSE:EAT), the world's
premier multi-unit restaurant operator, including Chili's, Romano's Macaroni Grill, and On The
Border. Cognizant provides e-engineering and application management solutions through its
unique on-site/offshore business model and was named the best small company in Forbes
magazine's listing of the "200 Best Small Companies." Brinker was picked by Fortune magazine
as one of the most admired companies.
"This partnership makes a lot of sense. Working with a premier service provider like
Cognizant allows Brinker to use its own technologists on those strategic projects the company
needs to focus on with its own people and allows Cognizant to apply its unique on-site/offshore
model on projects that they are well suited for," said Johnny Earl, vice president of Information
Technology at Brinker International. "We care most about great restaurants and great customer
experiences, and the information systems needed to support those objectives. Cognizant and
Brinker's technologists are positioned to do that."
"Cognizant likes to work with industry leaders, both in terms of financials and innovative
ideas," said Raj Mehta, Cognizant Technology Solutions' central region director. "Brinker is a
leader in an important industry and that profile maps nicely to Cognizant's world-class
application management methodologies and offerings."
Cognizant is complementing Brinker's talented technologists to help manage and further
develop restaurant and catering systems to enhance operations and the customer dining
experience. Both Brinker and Cognizant prefer long-term business relationships that value talent
and high quality people. The partners expect that with success the relationship will start with
application management and then grow, allowing Brinker and Cognizant to add more value to
the restaurant operations based on their respective strengths.
