SOLIDWORKS' SOFTWARE REDUCES DESIGN TIME FOR CASH BASES
Leading Developer of Customized Cash Drawers Cuts Development Cycle from 10 days to 30 Minutes

CONCORD, Mass. - January 18, 2000 - SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software for the mainstream design-centric market, today announced that Cash Bases Ltd., has standardized on SolidWorks software. Headquartered in Newhaven, England, Cash Bases designs and manufactures custom-built cash register drawers for worldwide market leaders in a variety of industries, including retail, financial institutions, post offices, kiosk and lottery operations, bars and restaurants, amusement parks, shipping lines, and railway terminals. Cash Bases is working with SolidWorks UK-based reseller, NT CADCAM, for ongoing software support and services.

“We’re constantly updating the designs of our products to meet the needs of individual customers. We design approximately six new cash drawers each week, as every customer wants something different,” said Hugh Burnett, managing director of Cash Bases. “Before we used SolidWorks, redesigning cash drawers took about 10 days, but now we’re able to completely change the specifications of a drawer in only 30 minutes. SolidWorks gives us huge productivity improvements.”

Burnett also noted SolidWorks’ powerful sheet metal capabilities, affordable price, and extensive reseller channel as key reasons for purchasing the software. “SolidWorks and NT CADCAM were not only easy to work with, but their extensive knowledge of the product and the CAD industry gave us insights into how we could exploit the technology to improve product design, reduce time to market, and ultimately impact our bottom line.”

“The fast-paced design changes that occur at Cash Bases are experienced by companies all over the world,” said Michel Gros, vice president of SolidWorks European office. “This is a perfect example of how SolidWorks’ design flexibility can significantly increase productivity and drive down cycle times. We are looking forward to contributing to Cash Bases’ development of hundreds of new products each year.”
