Spatial Inc. Announces Direct Pro/ENGINEER and CATIA File Format Support for IntraVISION
BOULDER, Colo, Jan. 19, 2000 - IntraVISION, the leading CAD viewing solution, expands range of
3D CAD file viewing, markup, measurement, and conversion for
enterprise-wide engineering data access
Spatial Inc. (AMEX:STY), the world's leading developer of 3D modeling technology and
interoperability solutions, announces the upcoming release of IntraVISION(R)'s support of
Pro/ENGINEER(R), from Parametric Technology Corporation (Nasdaq: PMTC), and CATIA(R),
from Dassault Systemes S.A. (Nasdaq: DASTY), 3D CAD file formats. IntraVISION, the leading
enterprise-wide viewing solution for Windows(R) and UNIX, supports more than 300 file formats,
including all major 3D CAD systems, and enterprise and product document information, such as
Microsoft(R) Word, Excel, and PowerPoint(R). IntraVISION allows all members in an enterprise to
view, markup, measure, and convert 2D and 3D product data without requiring the installation of native
software applications. This is especially important in engineering and manufacturing organizations where
all product data needs to be accessible worldwide, without requiring expensive CAD seats and training.
"IntraVISION is already a world-class product," said Bill Turcotte, Vice President, Enterprise
Products, Spatial Inc. "Providing direct, reliable viewing, markup, measurement, and conversion of
Pro/E and CATIA models enhances IntraVISION's market leadership and emphasizes the fact that
IntraVISION supports the greatest number and widest range of file formats and hardware platforms in
the viewing solution market."
"This is a needed functionality," commented Robb McCord, a CAD/CAM data exchange engineer at
Northrop Grumman Corporation's Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector. "I need to view CATIA and
Pro/Engineer models before they are translated into our CAD systems. Therefore I looked at the early
beta version of this product and was surprised how well it viewed some very complicated CATIA
models. Spatial is addressing a real-world need for intra-system interoperability and functionality for the
heterogeneous enterprise."
IntraVISION is available as an integrated viewing component for PDM, EDM, CAD, ERP, shop
floor, and MES solutions; or as a stand-alone application. With IntraVISION, users can view, markup,
measure, and convert raster files, documents, drawings, 3D CAD/CAM models, configuration data,
assemblies, and part files - without requiring native applications. These features provide key benefits to
users in product design and manufacturing by allowing them to collaborate on designs, review models
and drawings for dimensional accuracy, and support concurrent product development processes. The
inclusion of Pro/E and CATIA format file viewing is a sophisticated feature which meets the developing
needs of manufacturers and engineers who rely on interoperability of data for streamlining of processes.
IntraVISION users will now have access to Pro/E Version 18-20 and 2000i, and CATIA Version
4.x models and assemblies (including product structure data). These exciting new capabilities will be
available as add-on Direct CAD Modules to both Full and Lite versions of IntraVISION. Beta versions
of the Direct CAD Modules are now available for evaluation. Pricing for the modules will start at $395
per seat. More information on the product can be found at http://www.spatial.com, or by calling
Interoperability Sales at +303-544-2900 or by emailing interopsales@spatial.com.
Spatial also offers an OEM-enabled version of IntraVISION: IntraVISION Software Developer's
Kit (IVSDK). IVSDK provides software developers with the ability to embed multi-format viewing,
markup, measurement, and conversion functionality in software applications; build their own viewer;
create an Internet viewer plug-in; or even add support for their proprietary file formats.
