Upcoming GITA Webcasts - Educational Association to Host Three Live, Interactive Web Seminars
July 7, 2000-Aurora, Colo. The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) will host three live, interactive Webcast seminars during the last two quarters of 2000. Coined “The Geospatial 200 Series,” the seminars are designed to educate professionals in utilities and other infrastructure-based organizations about the basics of geospatial information technology.

With just an Internet connection and a separate phone line, participants can take part in these educational events from the convenience of their home or office. The virtual attendee simply logs onto a special Web site and dials a toll-free number. PowerPoint slides are then viewed on a Web browser while GITA presenters provide live audio commentary. A special interactive chat feature allows participants to type in questions to the presenters and receive a personalized response.

September 13, 2000
9:30-11:00 a.m. MDT

This seminar will address the use of geospatial technology as a means to achieve dramatic improvements in business performance, both within individual departments and across the enterprise. The seminar will identify the business solutions and functions that can benefit from the exploitation of geospatial technologies. Designed to take a hard look at geospatial technology investments from the perspective of managers and corporate stakeholders, this seminar will arm you with the tools necessary to build a bulletproof business case.

Geospatial 202: A Primer for IT Professionals
October 25, 2000
9:30-11:00 a.m. MDT

This seminar will address the use of geospatial technology coupled with object-oriented technology, the Web and data distribution, and spatial databases. The speakers will explore the emergence of these elements and how each can be integrated into an organization to achieve significant strategic and operational benefits.

Geospatial 203: Steps to Project Implementation
December 6, 2000
9:30-11:00 a.m. MST

Now that management has approved your project, there are numerous issues to contend with in a short amount of time, including who should be included on the team, whether data should be converted or migrated, how much custom work needs to be completed, and what the deployment strategy should be. Speakers will share lessons they learned the hard way, giving you invaluable insights on successful project implementation.

The seminars are priced at $75 for GITA members and $99 for nonmembers. Package discounts are available. More information on the Webcast seminars can be obtained from the GITA Web site at www.gita.org, by calling 303-337-0513, or e-mailing staff@gita.org.

The mission of the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is to provide excellence in education and information exchange on the use and benefits of geospatial information and technology in telecommunications, infrastructure, and utility applications worldwide.
