Bentley Software Selected for Three Gorges Dam Project
Chanjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design, and Research uses Bentley software on the world’s largest civil engineering project

Exton, PA - July 11, 2000 - Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a world leader in project-oriented engineering software, announced today that the Chanjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design, and Research, purchased 200 licenses of Bentley software. This will bring the total to 800 licenses that currently in use on the Three Gorges Dam Project.

The Three Gorges Dam Project is building a hydroelectric dam on China's Yangtze River - the largest hydroelectric project in history. The dam will create a reservoir some 400 miles long, permanently submerging about 150,000 acres. It is designed to generate over 18,000 megawatts of electricity, providing electricity to rural Chinese provinces, and to provide flood management and improved navigation for the upper Yangtze River.

Mr. Niu XinQian, Deputy President of the ChangJiang Institute says, "This is an immense engineering project. Many groups are working to together to make it succeed. We need software that lets the many engineers, architects and other specialists collaborate closely. They must work as a tight-knit team, regardless of the geographical location of their offices."
