July 25, 2000 - A record-breaking 300 users converged at the Bentley Forum-sponsored
Summer 2000
MidContinent MicroStation Community and MidContinent GEOPAK Users
Conference in Kansas City on July 20 and 21, 2000, to increase their engineering product
knowledge and sharpen their skills. During the two-day conference,
MicroStation and
GEOPAK users in the Midwestern United States attended keynotes, seminars and
workshops designed to update them on the latest industry trends and emerging solutions from Bentley
and GEOPAK, as well as help them maximize productivity.
"We're truly excited about the turnout at this summer's MidContinent GEOPAK Users Group meeting
held in conjunction with the MC2 conference," said Robert Rolle, PE, chairman of the MidContinent
GEOPAK Users Group. "Joining the large number of engineering consultant and DOT attendees is a
sizable representation of professionals from city, county and state governments and public works
departments."
"The MidContinent MicroStation Community Conference provided MicroStation users in our area the
chance to catch up on information presented at GEOPAK's June users conference, as well as get a
preview of what's to come at the September Bentley International User Conference — without traveling
greater distances," said LeLand Rowse, Chairperson of the MC2.
Viecon.com also took the stage as part of a keynote on e-empowerment delivered by Bentley's Warren
Winterbottom, senior vice president of the Americas. The revolutionary project extranet offering was also
part of the seminar agenda.
"E-mpowerment for our users means taking advantage of a $4.1 trillion dollar E/C/O market and focusing
on the E/C/O process as a continuum to increase productivity and produce assets more efficiently,"
explained Winterbottom. "It's not about drawing lines and circles faster, fewer mouse clicks or producing
more drawings and maps. It's about enterprise competitiveness and project productivity for everyone
involved. And with initiatives like Viecon, we're providing the software configurations and services to
make that happen."
The award-winning Internet strategy is designed to maximize the effectiveness of engineering,
construction and operations (E/C/O) networks by allowing members of project teams to create,
communicate and collaborate more efficiently over the Internet.
The two-day user conference also included a keynote from GEOPAK's Gabriel Norona, founder, CEO
and president. In-depth seminars and hands-on workshops spotlighted a variety of MicroStation and
GEOPAK products and how to make the most of them, including MicroStation TriForma, MicroStation
Modeler, MicroStation GeoGraphics and MicroStation GeoExchange.
The conference was co-sponsored by Bentley Forum and GEOPAK to help minimize attendee costs
and maximize their time at the conference.
The MidContinent MicroStation Community (MC2), a chapter of The MicroStation Community, is
dedicated to the professional development of its members by providing opportunities for education and
information sharing.
