Northwood Appoints New Board Members
Nepean (Ontario, Canada) --- Johannes R. Hill, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Northwood Technologies Inc., is pleased to announce the appointments of Richard Bertrand,
Conrad Lewis and Dr. Alan Winter to the Board of Directors.
Richard Bertrand, President of Ottawa-based consultancy IThink Inc., has been elected
Chairman of the Board. Mr. Bertrand sits on a number of boards in the corporate and volunteer
sectors, and is currently Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of Ottawa, Canada.
He has held a range of senior management positions in strategic communications, government
relations as well as within the cable television industry. More recently, Mr. Bertrand was Vice-
President of Marketing for SHL/MCI Systemhouse.
Conrad Lewis has over 25 years of technology industry experience, including numerous
executive R&D and product management positions with Mitel, Nortel Networks and Newbridge
Networks (now part of Alcatel). As part of his extensive career at Newbridge, he was Executive
Vice-President of the Access Product Group, which included the Newbridge broadband wireless
products. An electrical engineer with six patents in digital communications, Mr. Lewis sits on
numerous boards of Ottawa-based software and telecommunications companies.
Dr. Alan Winter brings over 27 years of telecommunications industry experience to Northwood.
Since 1996, he founded (with partners) a consulting and venture capital investment management
company and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer to three high-technology
firms during this period. Prior to 1996, he was President and Chief Executive Officer at MPR
Teltech, where he developed an incubation strategy to maximize shareholder value by spinning
off five subsidiaries and affiliates including PMC-Sierra Inc. and Sierra Wireless Inc. Dr. Winter
has served on the boards of directors for some 18 organizations, including the Communications
Research Centre of Industry Canada, where he is Chair of the Board.
