PCI Geomatics Launches GEOMATICA(tm), the First Totally Integrated Geomatics Software - Website
Richmond Hill, Ontario - June 2, 2000: PCI Geomatics announces the launch of GEOMATICA(tm), the newest software solution from the makers of EASI/PACE(r) and OrthoEngine(r). GEOMATICA is a complete geomatics solution that provides affordable software with capabilities in Remote Sensing, GIS, Cartography, and Photogrammetry. Key elements from PCI Geomatics' strongest products have been assembled into a highly integrated package, and infused with new technologies to make a product that answers today's geospatial data requirements.

A sample of the GEOMATICA interface

PCI Geomatics has merged and improved upon their most successful technologies. They have blended EASI/PACE(r), SPANS(r), PAMAP GIS (tm), ACE(r), and OrthoEngine(r) to develop a completely new functionality framework for GEOMATICA, producing a single, tightly integrated product. PCI Geomatics has strengthened its raster and vector processing capability to meet the growing demands of the Remote Sensing, GIS, Cartographic, and Photogrammetry worlds. The result is a product that is powerful, extensible, customizable, integratable with other applications, web enabled, and database oriented so as to be supportive of enterprise needs.

"GEOMATICA represents a major step towards consolidating a broad mix of geospatial technologies under one user friendly hood, and providing an underlying interoperability framework for integrating the technology of others. PCI Geomatics is taking a real leadership position in the industry by producing such highly interoperable technology. Everyone should make a point to see this product." Harry Niedzwiadek, Image Matters.

Through their GDB (Generic DataBase) technology, GEOMATICA users are provided with seamless and direct geospatial data transfer capabilities that permit access to more than 80 data formats without the need for conversion. GEOMATICA revolutionizes the storage, handling, and dissemination of geospatial imagery by providing support for Oracle 8i Spatial, including Oracle GeoImage. This is unique in the market place, making geospatial imagery much more accessible to a wider range of users.

"We're bringing the best overall solution to the geomatics market and people are responding with overwhelming interest and enthusiasm. The positive feedback is felt throughout the company, inspiring whole new ideas." Dr Robert Moses, President and CEO, PCI Geomatics

Phase One, GEOMATICA FreeView, is now available. GEOMATICA FreeView is a new viewing environment for working with a variety of data, including imagery, vectors, and ancillary data. FreeView allows the viewing, enhancing, and examination of remotely sensed imagery such as LANDSAT, SPOT, RADARSAT, IKONOS, ERS-1, NOAA AVHRR, and aerial photography. Users can employ FreeView to integrate GIS data with imagery and view the associated attribute data.

Phase Two, GEOMATICA GeoGateway, is the smart data translation tool that includes a viewing environment for working with a variety of data including imagery vectors, and ancillary data. This includes the ability to import/export 80+ imagery, vector, and other data formats, as well as reprojection and subsetting tools. This also includes read and write support for Oracle 8i Spatial with Oracle GeoImage data management. GEOMATICA GeoGateway will be available in summer 2000.

Phase Three, GEOMATICA Prime, contains the key elements needed for accomplishing most tasks in remote sensing, GIS, and cartography. Its emphasis is on ease of use, multi-resolution data handling, automation, extensibility, and the ability to integrate Geomatica with other technologies. Additional modules include advanced capabilities for Remote Sensing, GIS, Cartography, Photogrammetry, DEM, and WebServer.

"We've accomplished all this in just under two years. How? Simple: We've been a dedicated team for almost twenty years and we've been excited about developing new geomatics technology since day number one." David Stanley, Vice-President of Research and Development, PCI Geomatics
