ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 First Geographic Imaging Software Compatible With Windows 2000
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA - ERDAS Inc., announces that ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 is the first geographic imaging software product to be tested and proven compatible for Windows 2000. As a result of participating in the Windows 2000 Readiness Program, ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 is now listed as a Compatible Software Application on Microsoft's Windows 2000 web site. ERDAS’ software engineering and applications testing teams, following rigorous, multi-step testing procedures, also gave ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 their approval for consistently meeting performance standards under Windows 2000.

“ERDAS is committed to providing products that solidly perform on today’s leading platforms,” said Lawrie E. Jordan, III, ERDAS President. “Our commitment to Microsoft Windows is demonstrated by ERDAS IMAGINE’s compatibility and reliability on Windows 2000.” The Microsoft Corporation officially released the new operating system on February 17, 2000, during the Windows 2000 Conference & Expo in San Francisco. The Microsoft definition of “Ready” states that the “ISV has tested the application for Windows 2000 compatibility and will provide Windows 2000-related product support.” ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 meets these standards.

ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 provides superior speed and accuracy in geographic imaging processes, and includes the first commercially available expert systems classification tool for geographic applications. Wizard-based processes, on-the-fly reprojection and extended native raster file handling, are a few of the many timesaving features in the product. Users running on Windows NT 4.0 can upgrade to Windows 2000 without the need to re-install ERDAS IMAGINE. ERDAS pioneered the first PC-based geographic image processing system and for over 21 years has set the standard for multi-functional geographic imaging systems. Today, more than 25,000 installations of ERDAS software are helping organizations around the world to visualize, manipulate, analyze, measure, and integrate any type of geographic imagery and geospatial information into a 2- and 3-D environment
