Intergraph Announces New Dynamic Segmentation Analysis Environment in GeoMedia
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 27, 2000 - Intergraph Corporation today announced the company's next-generation dynamic segmentation analysis capabilities in GeoMedia(R). Specially designed for U.S. Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and transportation organizations, dynamic segmentation analysis enables both MGE and ArcInfo users to publish their linear networks into a unified spatial database and perform dynamic segmentation analysis using GeoMedia or GeoMedia Web Map. This capability is key for organizations that need enterprisewide access to business-critical road inventory data. GIS professionals can now use GeoMedia or GeoMedia Web Map to conduct dynamic segmentation analysis of distributed attributes (event data) stored in virtually any database without using the MGE Segment Manager Data Server. Intergraph is demonstrating this technology to DOT and transportation industry professionals at the Geographic Information System for Transportation (GIS-T) Symposium conference, March 26-29 in Minneapolis.

Intergraph is an established leader in serving U.S. DOTs and the transportation industry with its industry-proven GIS and civil engineering solutions. The company is expanding its development efforts for this vital market segment. Plans include a Linear Referencing System (LRS) management environment built on the GeoMedia platform.

"This new dynamic segmentation capability enables our customers to use their linear databases more completely from within GeoMedia," said Lynn Williams, senior development manager for Intergraph's Linear Network products. "We have launched a series of significant development efforts that will result in a complete GeoMedia LRS creation, maintenance, and analysis environment for our customers."

Preetha Pulusani, executive vice president of Intergraph's Mapping/GIS business commented, "Intergraph has developed a powerful foundation of GIS capabilities with the GeoMedia product suite. Now, we are turning our attention to key vertical markets we serve to develop and deliver industry-specific features and extensions that are important to our customers. As a leading solutions provider to U.S. DOTs, we will continue to offer advanced technologies within our GeoMedia product suite for transportation specialists."
