Nashville Electric Service Awards Multiyear GIS Technician Contract to Bluegrass GIS, Inc.
Frankfort, Kentucky, March 9, 2000--Nashville Electric Service (NES) has awarded a multiyear contract to Bluegrass GIS, Inc., to provide geographic information system (GIS) technician personnel to assist with the implementation of an ArcInfo 8 based GIS. Bluegrass GIS will coordinate all aspects of NES GIS data conversion, and in conjunction with NES Engineering personnel, perform GIS data collection and research, field verification, data input, quality control, and database maintenance. Bluegrass GIS will also provide technical support for NES GIS users, conduct formal and ad hoc training, prepare custom maps and reports, and assist with GIS application design, development, and end user training.

Bluegrass GIS has been responsible for all technical aspects of GIS implementation at NES since 1996 and will continue to facilitate the expansion of GIS throughout the enterprise at NES. In 1999, NES awarded Bluegrass GIS a multiyear contract to provide GIS database design, implementation, application development, technical support, and training services necessary to migrate the existing GIS from ArcInfo 7.2.1 and ArcStorm to ArcInfo 8 and ArcSDE and expand the GIS to include both secondary/service and transmission information.
