San Diego Gas & Electric Selects Centricity For Customer Service e-Business Initiative
DENVER, March 27 - CES International announced today that it has been contracted by San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) to enhance power delivery service and reliability for more than 1.2 million utility customers with the deployment of the Centricity operations resource management system.

CES International, the global leader in real-time, infrastructure reliability solutions, will showcase the Centricity systems through March 29 at (BOOTH #1228) the 23rd Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) annual conference here.

SDG&E, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, will use CES International as its prime contractor to support its personnel in the deployment of the CES International Centricity operations resource management system. The project calls for an InterSys-based integration to SDG&E's Enghouse GIS, ACS SCADA, and the Customer One CIS application. In addition, CES International will deploy Centricity with integration to SDG&E's mobile work-force management solution, Advantex, provided by CES partner Mobile Data Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: MDSI; Toronto).

"SDG&E is committed to leveraging the full potential of Internet technologies to ensure safe and reliable power service and to enhance our customer communications programs," said SDG&E President Edwin A. Guiles. "Centricity will help us achieve higher service levels in these areas."

Centricity ties customer data and incoming calls regarding outages into a real-time, electric network model. This information provides operations center personnel and dispatchers with a comprehensive view of delivery network conditions during normal operations and during emergency weather conditions.

Incorporating a real-time powerflow engine, switching management, as well as the market's leading outage management solution, the OpsCentricity suite arms utility operations personnel with up-to-date information at their fingertips to perform network switching operations. Using the CrewCentricity suite, they can also dispatch and manage repair crews in the field through wireless communications links to mobile data terminals located in repair trucks. With this technology, crews effect repairs in the safest and fastest possible way.

The CommandCentricity suite, with its Performance Mart and operations Data Warehouse solutions, provides utility executives and media relations personnel with a comprehensive solution set to facilitate rapid and accurate customer, regulator and media reporting through traditional means or through customer- facing Internet portals available in the MyCentricity suite.

"As another market validation of our e-Business focus, the SDG&E selection is also important because California leads the U.S. in utility deregulation and has one of the highest residential and commercial Internet adoption rates in the world," said CES International President and CEO Ken Geisler. "We are excited about deploying our latest Centricity e-Business solutions at SDG&E to help them leverage the power of the Internet to improve delivery infrastructure reliability and service levels in a competitive and demanding environment."
