Smallworld, Edinfor Forge Strategic Business Alliance, Electricidade de Portugal S.A. (EDP) subsidiary to become PowerOn distributor
Cambridge (March 28, 2000) - Smallworld (Nasdaq: SWLDY), a leading provider of utility network software solutions, today announced it has signed a partnership agreement with EDINFOR, the IT subsidiary of Group EDP (NYSE: EDP), a global multi-utility company serving 5.4 million electric customers in Portugal and more than 4 million in Latin America. Under the terms of the agreement, EDINFOR becomes a distributor of Smallworld’s unique distribution management system, PowerOn, throughout EDP’s worldwide operating regions. Additionally, EDINFOR has made an initial purchase of PowerOn on behalf of EDP.

PowerOn opens a new era of high performance systems for EDP, helping on improved customer service quality, while at the same time representing a strong support to EDINFOR´s business” said Luis Barruncho, Director of Systems and Geospatial Information at EDINFOR.

Electricidade de Portugal is the largest industrial group in Portugal with a market cap of Euro 12 billion and sales of more than Euro 3 billion. EDP supplies electricity in Portugal to more than 5 million clients and holds contracts with more than 9,000 suppliers.
