RSI Announces Reduction in Radarsat DEM Pricing
RSI and Spectral Imaging Sign DEM Product Agreement
RICHMOND, BC -- RADARSAT International ("RSI"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of
MacDonald Dettwiler, announced that it is now offering pricing of US $1.25
per square kilometre for RADARSAT-1-derived digital elevation models
("DEMs") and orthorectified images ("ORIs"). Additional discounts are
available for larger volumes.
This new pricing is made possible through RSI's strategic partnerships with
value-added companies. RSI signed its most recent DEM and ORI production
agreement with Spectral Imaging Solutions ("SIS") of Calgary, Alberta.
RSI President, Mr. Roland Knight, said, "RSI's objective with these types of
agreements is to build partnerships that allow us to supply our clients with
the most suitable and cost-competitive solutions for their specific needs.
SIS is bringing the same desire to the table mixed with an impressive level
of technical expertise that we are confident will make RADARSAT ORIs and
DEMs attractive to the worldwide market."
SIS President, Mr. Scott Thornton, added, "This style of agreement aligns
closely to our corporate philosophy of forming strategic partnerships with
leading-edge companies. It is exciting to work with RSI due to their
multi-disciplinary approach to commercial remote sensing. Their
international marketing experience coupled with this price advantage cannot
help but make the initiative successful. SIS will be able to apply and
enhance our existing expertise in Digital Mapping."
DEMs and ORIs are used by clients requiring 3-dimensional topographical
information for operations such as resource management, engineering and
civil works, map production, geographic information systems, forestry, as
well as drainage and flood potential. To qualify for this pricing of US
$1.25 per square kilometre for the ORI, DEM, and data, the client's area of
interest must cover at least 10,000 square kilometres (or amount to a
minimum of US $12,500). Other restrictions may apply.
Additional information on RADARSAT-1-derived DEM and ORI products can be
obtained from RSI's Storefront on the worldwide web at
