Datria Systems, Inc., Receives Funding
From Leading VC Firm
Developer of Speech Enabled Data Collection
Software Gives Mobile Workers Real-Time Wireless Access To Databases
DENVER, Colo., May 16, 2000--Datria Systems, Inc., a leader of
mobile speech application software that allows mobile workers to have real-time interaction
with remote databases, today announced that it has received funding from Koch Ventures as
part of a $5.3 million round of funding.
Koch Ventures, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, has invested more than $160 million in
venture capital transactions since 1993. Koch Ventures is the private equity investment arm of
Koch Industries, the second largest privately held company in America. Other investors include
Quest International Management, Denver; Four States Investment, Jericho, NY; Greenwood
Gulch Ventures, Denver, and Datria management.
Datria's product line is centered on its VoCarta(TM) software, a speech-enabled remote
data collection system. Speech-based mobile computing allows organizations to streamline
business processes, increase productivity, reduce costs and thereby gain competitive
advantage through real-time bi-directional access from the field to corporate enterprise
information systems.
VoCarta is successfully being used to collect data and populate databases by over 40 of
Datria's customers including utilities and communications companies as well as state and local
governments on public works, transportation and public safety projects. Datria's customers
include U.S. West, Energy South, Inc. (Mobile Gas Company), Parsons Brinckerhoff and the
City of Austin.
VoCarta gives mobile field workers hands-free, eyes-up capability when actively collecting
data for spatial or relational databases, such as a Geographic Information System or a
Relational Database Management System. VoCarta combines speech with a variety of digital
input devices such as GPS, barcode readers, and digital cameras to solve customers' complex
data collection requirements and directly download data into spatial, relational or web-enabled
databases.
Currently, Datria's VoCarta line of products includes four major products developed for
specific speech-enabled data management requirements:
- VoCarta TeleForms -- a wireless data collection system allowing
users in the field to access and update records of corporate
databases via cell phones. The field worker also has the ability
to receive information via the cell phone like being dispatched to
their next job.
- VoCarta Forms -- an extended data collection environment with
special tools to provide direct, real-time interactive access to
existing data in a relational database management system.
- VoCarta Field -- a stand-alone data collection environment
complete with quality control tools and extensions for integration
with multiple input devices.
- VoCarta Tools -- a unique software development tool kit (SDK) that
enables developers to embed speech functionality into custom and
third-party data-support applications.
