ObjectFX Technology Utilized in Eaton's Fleet
Advisor Transportation Logistics Management System
ST. PAUL, Minn., May 16,
2000--ObjectFX announced today that its SpatialFXTM
development technology is a major component of Eaton's
Tracking Advisor(R), a new location-based vehicle tracking,
exceptions reporting, and fleet management product that
augments its Fleet Advisor transportation logistics
management system. SpatialFX is a software tool that
enables visual representation of vehicle and route information
and exception report views that show real-time fleet progress
to dispatchers and route planners for easier fleet
management.
Eaton Senior Product Manager Richard Miller noted, "Our customers are very enthused
about this new visual tool. In addition to making their dispatchers much more efficient, it gives
them the added ability to track by driver. And they seem to be impressed with how intuitive the
system is. Some have told us they've even been able to start using it without referring to the
manual."
Mark Tudor, ObjectFX's CEO and President said, "We are extremely pleased that Eaton
chose to incorporate SpatialFX technology in its Fleet Advisor transportation logistics
management system. This is a true testimonial to the value that real-time wireless
communications and interactive views add to enterprise-wide management systems."
SpatialFX technology accesses dynamic GPS-generated information in Eaton's database to
reveal real-time views. The point-and-click interface improves the system's functionality and
ease-of-use by enabling users to easily hone in on the performance of a particular truck, driver
or route at any time, as well as the collective performance of several vehicles or drivers in an
operating area. Color-coded status indicators reveal exceptions to route plans at a glance.
Identification of exceptions such as early or late arrival/departure or extended route-stop and
route-leg duration facilitates early detection of problems and minimizes crisis situations.
The system maps "breadcrumb" progress with controllable frequency updates, and its open
GIS architecture provides the means to utilize source maps from a variety of vendors. Since the
program runs in a client/server environment, it may be available across all local area and wide
area networks within a customer's enterprise.
