DELL COMPUTER CORP - Offers 'Linux Graphics Special' to Workstation Professionals

New York, New York, Nov. 07, 2000 - Dell Canada announced a special promotion for Linux users who create professional-looking graphics for print or the Web. The offer combines a Dell Precision workstation with substantially reduced pricing for Corel Corporation's powerful CorelDRAW(R) Graphics Suite for Linux(R), saving customers up to $200(1) off the manufacturer's suggested retail price(2).

The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite for Linux provides powerful drawing and painting tools, support for Internet publishing, interactive tools and productivity-enhancing features designed specifically for the Linux desktop. Included in this advanced illustration, photo editing and painting suite are CorelDRAW 9 and Corel PHOTO-PAINT(R) 9. Both applications feature Live Effects that let users experiment without losing their previous work and keep the design process running smoothly with outstanding compatibility features. For more information visit Corel's website at www.corel.com.

"With powerful graphics and processing capabilities, Dell's Precision workstations are a great choice for Linux users running advanced applications like Corel's industry leading CorelDRAW Graphics Suite for Linux," said Ian Mitchell, Product Manager, Precision Workstations, Dell Canada.

Now, Canadian customers who purchase a Dell Precision workstation with Red Hat Linux can order the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite for Linux for a special price of only $99(1). This represents a savings of up to $200 off the suggested retail price. Pricing is valid through January 25, 2001. For additional information visit Dell's website at www.dell.ca/workstations/corel.

"We are very excited about this offer from Dell," said Kevin Thornton, Corel's Vice President of Sales for the Americas. "CorelDRAW Graphics Suite for Linux is an ideal complement to the Dell Precision workstation, both of which are designed for graphics professionals and enthusiasts."

Dell Precision workstations are intended for professional users who demand exceptional performance in the digital content creation (DCC), computer-aided design (CAD), geographic information systems (GIS), computer animation, software development, and financial analysis markets.

IDC Canada's first and second-quarter 2000 analysis shows Dell continues to lead the Canadian personal branded workstation market. IDC's second-quarter 2000 analysis placed Dell in the No. 1 position with a 23 per cent share for unit shipments in the worldwide total branded workstation market. This market includes both personal workstations equipped with Intel(R) Pentium(R) processors and traditional workstations with RISC processors using the UNIX operating system. Businesses interested in learning more about Dell Precision workstations can visit Dell's Web site at www.dell.ca/workstations.

Earlier this year, Dell and Red Hat formed the One Source Alliance to accelerate commercial adoption of the Linux operating system and to support businesses building Internet infrastructures. This alliance has enabled first- to-market availability of version 7 of the Red Hat Linux operating system on Dell Precision workstations worldwide.
