3Di Accommodates Significant Growth with New Capital Investment
Easton, Maryland (October 13, 2000) - 3Di, a privately-held international
spatial data provider based in Easton, Maryland, announced today an
additional capital investment of $2.0 million in the company to accommodate
planned organic growth. The infusion of capital comes from the company's
bank and a venture partner to enhance the company's ability to sustain rapid
growth with $800,000 in available funds and an additional $1,200,000 in
equity. In addition, through recapitalization and recent acquisition
activity, Koch Ventures, whose initial acquisition and capital investment
into 3Di was made in 1998, owns approximately 70% of the company. Monty
Deel, CEO of the company, continues to maintain his ownership in 3Di.
With this capital infusion, 3Di will invest in new spatial data technologies
and increase production capacity. "The continued confidence shown by our
bank and investor is a testimony to our management team's execution of
company goals and objectives," said Monty Deel. "With this new financing,
3Di can also continue to provide new, sophisticated mapping technologies and
techniques, like LIDAR." The company recently completed its fifth
acquisition within an 18-month span with the purchase of EagleScan (Boulder,
CO) - a significant provider of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) mapping.
According to Daratech, Inc. (Cambridge, MA), total worldwide sales of GIS
products and services now exceed $6.9 billion annually, with the market only
expected to grow. 3Di, with Mapping, GIS Professional and Remote Sensing
Business Units, maintains an aggressive expansion plan to dominate the
service segment of the GIS market over the next five years.
