New World Systems Automates Galveston, Texas, Police Department

TROY, Mich., Oct. 23, 2000--New World Systems, a leading provider of software solutions for the public sector, announced today that Galveston (TX) Police Department has signed a $1.4 million contract to install its Aegis(R) Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Aegis Records Management and Aegis/MSP Mobile Computing software.

The city of Galveston is looking forward to automating their agencies' operations and increasing the accessibility to key information among law enforcement personnel with New World's Public Safety suite of software.

After four years spent researching public safety software vendors, Galveston chose New World Systems based on its products and New World's reputation with its customers. Galveston representatives visited customer sites of various public safety software vendors, and New World's customers were consistent in their recommendation of the software, the service and support, and the company itself. The agency decided that New World's products and services met its needs.

"We have already began re-evaluating personnel assignments, because the new system will drastically reduce our day to day data entry responsibilities and increase our agencies' efficiency," said Lieutenant Mike Putnal. "Easy retrieval of information was a key feature in New World's software package, and I predict a 100% improvement in case processing and the ability to increase the solvability for our officers."

The Galveston law enforcement agency has 165 sworn officers and services 64 square miles holding a population of 60,000. But, the Galveston Island is 45 miles south of Houston and is a major tourist attraction in the area. The fluctuating population of the Texas island can mean up to 240,000 people each weekend and up to 500,000 for special events, such as Mardi Gras and spring break. Galveston is a unique municipality that required a robust public safety system to meet its everyday needs as a community, as well as the demands of its unpredictable population. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.

New World Systems is a public sector software company in Troy, Michigan that has provided software solutions for public safety and public administration organizations since 1981. New World has more than 500 customers, comprised of more than 1200 public safety agencies across the United States and beyond.
