El Paso Water Utilities Solves a Myriad of Storage Problems With Procom NAS Appliance

IRVINE, Calif., Apr 5, 2001 -- Procom Technology Inc. (Nasdaq:PRCM) manufacturer of information storage and access appliances and pioneer in network attached storage (NAS), announced today that El Paso Water Utilities has chosen its NetFORCE(TM) product as the ideal solution for storing geographic information systems (GIS) related materials such as maps, images and other topographic documents.

"We are very pleased with the increased level of market interest that our NetFORCE products are generating," said John R. Bonne, Procom's Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "The current economic climate works in our favor. Users are demanding more for their money, and are finding that our products' market-leading price/performance and reliability can dramatically lower the total cost of ownership of storage assets."

According to Armando Renteria, IS Manager for the El Paso Water Utilities, "Procom provided us with a highly reliable NAS solution that has allowed us to broaden our storage capabilities in areas that until now were limited, expensive or hard to manage.

"Installation of the NetFORCE filer was seamless. We got it online without having to bring down the rest of the network. Now information that was once scattered in a number of locations is aggregated into a centralized, fault tolerant repository. The filer's scalable, flexible architecture gives our engineers and field personnel quick, easy access to the information they need.

"The NetFORCE filer decreases our storage costs. It has the best performance-to-cost numbers, compared to other systems. We are able to manage all of our data with ease and with minimal administration and maintenance expense," Renteria added.

Procom Technology is a pioneer in network attached storage (NAS). The Company designs and produces information storage and management solutions based on Procom's Adaptive Network Storage Architecture(TM) (ANSA), which features optimized embedded software for seamless integration into all major networking environments. Because of its heritage in the NAS market space, Procom has a significant presence among Fortune 2000 companies.
