Sam Houston Electric Cooperative Selects Enterprise Utility Solutions to Complete Data Collection and Systems Integration

LIVINGSTON, Texas, Apr 4, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sam Houston Electric Cooperative, one of the leading cooperatives in the United States, recently announced that Enterprise Utility Solutions (EUS) would take over systems integration of their many automation projects to assure seamless and improved performance.

The project includes system integration, field data collection, and GPS inventory of their facilities as well as the installation of M3i's Operation Management System, a version upgrade of their ESRI GIS, and interfaces to MiniMax.

This is a major step forward for Sam Houston Electric in providing the best customer service possible, while positioning itself for future growth. Proper system interfaces and the collection of accurate data will allow Sam Houston Electric to efficiently monitor and control distribution operations while providing a superior vehicle to manage service restoration.

With these new systems in place, Sam Houston Electric is poised for growth.

"Our company will be a point-of-reference facility among the cooperatives," said Keith Staples, IT manager at Sam Houston Electric. "We realize that accurate data is critical to the success of these systems, and EUS brings this expertise as well as the vision of an entire business solution to assure our success."

Enterprise Utility Solutions brings leading business partners together to expedite delivery and assure results. Robert Lee, vice president of M3i said: "We have been working with EUS for several years and they bring a unique delivery model and the utility expertise to assure successful business solutions.

"We are excited that our business relationship allows us the flexibility to meet the needs of the client, by giving them the choice of directly licensing the M3i product or sub-licensing the same technology through EUS."

EUS has also involved MJ Harden Associates to assure the data conversion is fast, accurate, and usable within the new ESRI data model. Our focus is to enable all clients' access to the company's state-of-the-art products, and the company provides another avenue, which guarantees success.

Enterprise Utility Solutions provides mission critical software and system integration services under multi-year service bureau and maintenance contracts. Along with delivering custom software modules, EUS has numerous business partner relationships and sub-licenses to meet the needs of small and medium-sized utilities across North America.

Sam Houston Electric Cooperative joins a growing list of diverse clients such as Orlando Utilities Commission, Allegheny Energy, and Connexus Energy.

MJH is a full-service geographic information technology firm. As an EUS Technology Partner, MJH provides GIS consulting, implementation, and data conversion services that supplement those provided by EUS.

Experience with ESRI's desktop software and workstation ArcInfo includes implementation planning, system integration, database design, data conversion, application programming, training, and maintenance/operation of ArcInfo-based GIS installations. Clients include regional governments and electric, gas, water, sewer, and storm water utilities.
