BeyondGeo Users Can Now Directly Import and Work with MrSID Imagery Files for Easy Web Publishing

GARDINER, Maine, Aug 7, 2001-Blue Marble Geographics announced today that LizardTech's industry-leading MrSIDŽ file format is supported within BeyondGeo's Internet mapping service, providing native support for reading geo-referenced MrSID imagery.

BeyondGeo allows users to easily publish an interactive map on the Internet using a hosted solution and save thousands of dollars over traditional map server solutions. With BeyondGeo, MrSID image files can now be imported and published onto the Web with a complete set of interactive tools. MrSID, the image format standard for geospatial professionals, reduces high-resolution images to less than five percent of their original file size while maintaining original image quality.

"Blue Marble Geographics through its Beyond Geo map server service is pioneering the next generation of Internet mapping solutions," said John Grizz Deal, LizardTech founder and vice chairman. "Integrating MrSID into BeyondGeo allows for high-quality image files to be published easily onto the Web, while preserving image quality and increasing viewing speed for location-based applications."

"BeyondGeo enables users to take traditional data and maps, and publish them directly onto their Web site. This solution allows you to avoid the complexity and costs of implementing a traditional map server, you can take most any format file directly from your desktop mapping software and quickly publish a database driven map on the Internet, loaded with interactive features." said Jeff Cole, Blue Marble President and Founder. "This is the future of Internet mapping solutions".
