Global Locate GPS Network Inventor to Teach Indoor GPS Course for Navtech GPS Seminars

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 13, 2001--Dr. Frank van Diggelen, Vice President of Global Locate, Inc., a wireless-location technology and services company, will teach an advanced one-day course about assisted and indoor GPS for Navtech Seminars & GPS Supply.

Course 218 -- "Indoor GPS: Wireless Aiding and Low SNR Detection" -- is directed to managers and engineers from wireless device manufacturers, wireless networks, carriers and ASPs who must assess current technology, business implications, aiding techniques and emerging systems.

A GPS network architecture expert, van Diggelen will describe why standard GPS does not work indoors, how indoor GPS technology works and how to quantify and assess performance of competing GPS solutions. He will also address implementation, performance, industry standards and the role of wireless carriers.

"The course is challenging and includes in-class and take-home exercises," van Diggelen says. "Participants should bring their laptops and their wits."

A detailed description for the March 22 seminar in San Diego is available at the Navtech web site, www.navtechgps.com. All participants must register and be confirmed prior to attending.

Navtech's president Carolyn McDonald describes van Diggelen as one of the "young stars" in the design of advanced applications and implementation of GPS.

"Dr. van Diggelen's course is an excellent way for engineers and managers to rapidly come up to speed on this important, sophisticated and fascinating technology," McDonald says. "Navtech Seminars is pleased to offer a scientific GPS course and instructor of this caliber."

With 19 years of professional experience in the field of navigation and communications, van Diggelen has published more than 50 articles and papers and taught six different courses relating to GPS and wireless communications. In his position at Global Locate, van Diggelen has designed and implemented a worldwide GPS reference-station network for supporting assisted- GPS and provided the company with a substantial foundation of intellectual property protection. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cambridge University, England.
