Platform Support Completes Viewing Options for MrSID Online Images

LIZARDTECH SHIPS MRSID BROWSER PLUG-IN 1.3 FOR MAC

SEATTLE, March 14, 2001 - LizardTech Inc. today announced that its MrSIDŽ Browser Plug-in 1.3 for the Macintosh platform is now available for native viewing of MrSID images. This plug-in is compatible with LizardTech Content Server and allows for fast serving of source-quality photographs via the Internet. These photographs are served as bandwidth-efficient files from a single, Internet-accessible MrSID image. MrSID Browser Plug-in is available at no cost directly from LizardTech's Web site (www.lizardtech.com) for Netscape and Internet Explorer Web browsers.

MrSID Browser Plug-in for Mac provides an intuitive graphic interface that allows for viewing, magnifying, printing and saving original-quality MrSID images via the Internet or from local MrSID files. LizardTech Content Server allows for the fastest delivery of high-resolution images and clear, crisp documents over the Internet. Using LizardTech's MrSIDŽ format for photographs and DjVuŽ format for documents, the Content Server makes it easy for companies to publish limitless amounts of high-quality information in a format compatible with every browser. MrSID allows up to 95 percent file size reduction while maintaining original image quality and providing real-time viewing, panning and printing of massive-size images. DjVu, acquired from AT&T Labs, reduces the file size of scanned documents so users can download them 100 times faster than with other file formats.

"This extension of LizardTech's product line completes our goal of providing our customers with the benefits of MrSID regardless of their platform choice," said John Grizz Deal, LizardTech president and CEO. "It also demonstrates our continued support for the Macintosh community."

MrSID Browser Plug-in for Mac Features:

- View, magnify and explore images served from LizardTech Content Server or images
- stored locally or on FTP
- Cache image data on the user's local machine for fast image viewing
- Print high-quality versions of MrSID images to desktop printers
- For content protection, save image as limited-resolution MrSID, JPEG or BMP files
- Supports Apple Macintosh OS 9.x Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x
- System requirements: 5MB hard drive and 20MB RAM
