New World Systems Automates Tillamook County, OR
TROY, Mich., March 26, 2001--New World Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-wide
software solutions for the public sector, announced today that the Tillamook County, Oregon Emergency Communications
District recently signed two contracts to license New World's Aegis(R)/MSP multi-jurisdictional Computer Aided Dispatch
(CAD) and Records running on the Microsoft Windows(R) platform
The Tillamook County Emergency Communications District dispatches for the following public safety agencies: Tillamook
Police Department, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Tillamook Fire District, Tillamook Ambulance, Rockaway Beach
Police Department, Rockaway Beach Fire Department, Manzanita Department of Public Safety for Police and Fire,
Garibaldi Police Department, Garibaldi Fire Department, Garibaldi Ambulance Department, Bay City Fire, Nehalem Fire
Department, Wheeler Fire Department, Netarts-Oceanside Fire District, Nestucca Rural Fire District and Pacific West
Ambulance.
Until now, the Tillamook County Public Safety agencies did not have a software system in the 911-dispatch center. New
World's public safety software will allow the agencies to fully automate operations and increase access to information among
officers throughout the County.
"Our record keeping will improve 100%," said Tillamook County's Administrator Eric Swanson. "For the first time we will
have accurate, meaningful data to access response times, resource allocation and public records when they are requested.
"With New World's software, our dispatchers will be able to concentrate more on serving the citizens," said Swanson.
"The Aegis/MSP CAD software keeps track of where each unit is and recommends units based on geography or incident
type. Automating our daily tasks will increase productivity and possibly the safety of our community and officers."
A year and a half ago, Tillamook County began researching software vendors. They chose New World, because of their
stability and the performance and capabilities of their Windows-based software. Swanson also said that the layout of New
World's application makes sense, making it easy to follow and understand.
"We knew that we wanted software on the Windows NT platform, because it's easy to use," said Swanson. "Since this
was going to be a major change, we felt that it would be an easier system to learn since many of our personnel are already
familiar with the Windows functionality."
The seamless integration offered by New World's Aegis Public Safety software simplifies the communication of data from
dispatchers to officers in the field by allowing them to access critical information from the Records Management system. The
Records software contains a master database on people, property, vehicles, wants/warrants, and much more which can be
accessed from the CAD application in real time resulting in increased officer awareness and safety.
"New World provides an `all in one' solution," said Swanson. "We can continue to add modules to the integrated software
as we need them."
The Tillamook County Emergency Communications District has nearly 90 sworn officers and services an area of 1102
square miles with an average population of 24,420. Tillamook is home of the Tillamook Cheese Factory, the second largest
tourist attraction in Oregon, which brings the County 1,000,000 visitors a year. They are currently working on the software
implementation and hope to be live in the summer of 2001 to help support the doubled amount of calls for service that they
receive during the season.
Tillamook County is looking at licensing New World's Aegis Mobile, Corrections, Courts and Fire/EMS applications at a
later date.
