Intensive GIS Certificate Program At UCR Extension This Summer

RIVERSIDE, Calif., March 27, 2001--The explosion of PC-based systems has made geographic information widely accessible and affordable.

Now, virtually every business and nonprofit or government organization can benefit from utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to accurately capture and display a variety of information that is geographically related.

UCR Extension, University of California, Riverside, has scheduled an intensive program July 2-Aug. 31 in Geographic Information Systems. Participants may earn the prestigious UCR Extension certificate in GIS in eight weeks by taking the "full bundle" of 10 courses (prerequisite course is Introduction to ArcView).

The certificate is designed for public and private sector administrators, managers, technical professionals, decision makers and others involved in building and implementing information systems. Full bundle fee is $3,895. A $500 deposit is due by June 10. Classes may also be taken individually.

For more information or to enroll, call 909/787-4105 or toll-free 800/442-4990. For a free copy of the Spring catalog, call 909/787-3806. The Geographic Information Systems department may be reached at 909/787-5804 or by e-mail at sciences@ucx.ucr.edu. Visit the Web site at www.UCRExtension.net/GIS.
