IGN France International (IGN-FI), the French national mapping agency subsidiary
responsible for overseas activities, has purchased an additional 30 Cadcorp SIS -
Spatial Information System software licences, mainly for use on work in its data
cleansing contract with Ordnance Survey (OS).
In late 2000, IGN-FI purchased 10 licences of Cadcorp SIS Map Editor software
for use on the data revision of Ordnance Survey Topo ’96 digital map data, having
been awarded a contract by OS to work on 3200 map sheets. Since winning this
business, IGN-FI has been successful in tendering for substantial additional OS data
maintenance work. This has greatly influenced the decision to make a major
investment in further Cadcorp SIS licenses.
Support for the CITF format matching OS specifications and validation techniques is
crucial to this project, as is the ease of data maintenance which can be performed
using a customised software interface developed by Cadcorp’s French business
partner, Geomod.
“A great deal of the credit for this business must go to Geomod, which has worked
closely with this prestigious French customer to deploy Cadcorp SIS,” states Alan
Plumley, European sales and business manager, Cadcorp. “IGN-FI is very active in
many cartographic and GIS projects around the world and we are proud that
Cadcorp SIS has been selected by them as a production tool,” he adds.
In addition to the new IGN-FI contract, Gardline-Infotech, the Great Yarmouth-based
data capture company, has purchased 13 Cadcorp SIS licences, along with CITF
translators, for use in its work in the same Ordnance Survey project.
