BusinessMAP Travel Edition Now Available

Nationwide Route Planner with Integrated Dun & Bradstreet Business Listings

Redlands, California--ESRI, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, today announced the availability of BusinessMAP Travel Edition, a mapping tool for the business traveler.
BusinessMAP Travel Edition major feature attractions are:
  • Direct links from ACT!, GoldMine, Outlook, and Excel, as well as reading data from Access, dBASE, text files, and many other applications.
  • Business locator with Dun & Bradstreet's database of 11 million business listings searchable by business name, location, eight-digit SIC, or type of business is available on your map.
  • Door-to-door driving directions for routing between customer locations.
Optimized routing to multiple stops using the traveling salesman solution.
  • "Find Nearby" feature to locate hotels, restaurants, rental agencies, gas stations, hospitals, and any other type of business that you may desire.
  • Complete customization of toolbars and menu selections.
  • The ability to save maps and driving directions to your Palm organizer.
  • The ability to print maps in sizes that range from day planner to multipanel wall charts that are helpful in preparing presentations.
  • "Our newest database mapping software is much more than a travel planner. BusinessMAP Travel Edition offers the business traveler access to the complete Dun & Bradstreet business listing searchable down to 8-digit SIC/description. This permits a very narrow search for potential customers, competitors, and points of interest," said Bill McNeil, manager of ESRI's Business Products Group. "Moreover, this software is now so easy to use that virtually anyone can create, populate, and print a map quickly."

The Dun & Bradstreet business listings consist of a list of 11 million U.S. businesses. Unlike some "Yellow Page" databases, BusinessMAP Travel Edition sorts all of these companies by their eight-digit U.S. government SIC codes. The database includes business name, address, city, state, ZIP Code, telephone, latitude/longitude, SIC/business Description, type of site (headquarters/branch), annual sales, and number of employees (where available).

Users can search the business listings database using ordinary words, such as "automotive" or "legal services," or do combined searches by business category or geographic location to find and instantly create maps of business prospects in a certain city or ZIP Code, for example. Search results are plotted on the map and can be viewed in the BusinessMAP database window. Exporting of the Dun & Bradstreet data is available at additional cost.

BusinessMAP Travel Edition provides street-level address-to-address routing for the entire United States. The user can perform both simple routes and optimized routes between multiple locations. Detailed turn-by-turn directions are created for print or download to your Palm or other organizer using the Palm operating system. This provides a convenient, organized way of managing your maps and trip directions.

Complete customization of toolbars and menu selections permits the user to design a user interface that meets his/her specific need. It is easy to add, remove, or relocate buttons and menu commands to a location that simplifies a specific use of the software. Each user interface design can be saved as a workspace for reuse. There is also an integrated printing utility that enables BusinessMAP Travel Edition users to print the maps they create in sizes that range from day planner to multipanel wall charts helpful in preparing presentations. The BusinessMAP Travel Edition package also includes what many users have asked for-updated 2001 boundaries for postal ZIP Codes and new links to software used to track business contacts such as ACT!, GoldMine, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel.

BusinessMAP Travel Edition is priced at $49.95 and is available at Micro Center and directly from ESRI by calling 1-800-970-0033. BusinessMAP Travel Edition can also be purchased online from ESRI's GIS Store at gisstore.esri.com.

BusinessMAP Travel Edition is available for Windows 95 (with service pack 2), Windows NT/98/Me/2000, or XP operating systems. For more information, please visit ESRI on the Web at www.esri.com/busmap_travel
