MapInfo Showcases Product Innovation at Worldwide Partner and User Conference

ORLANDO, FLA--MapWorld--November 12, 2001--At its worldwide partner and user conference, MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS) is previewing four products that will address increasing customer demands related to mining and managing critical location information to drive business advantage. Products being showcased include: MapInfo MapX(R) Mobile; MapInfo Professional(R) for Microsoft(R) SQL Server(TM); MapInfo(R) TargetPro(R) v4.0; and, a new product code named--"Catalina". These products will enable organizations to harness the power of MapInfo’s location intelligent solutions for enhanced customer relationship management and business intelligence decisions. The annual MapWorld conference features training sessions, workshops and presentations all designed to help customers learn more about MapInfo’s current line of geospatial, CRM and wireless solutions.

"These products are a good example of MapInfo’s commitment to continuous product innovation," said Gary Schaffer, vice president, product and market management, MapInfo. "Each product addresses the increased need to receive, view and analyze data where critical decisions are made, in both the field and the enterprise."

The following is a brief description of each product. - MapInfo MapX Mobile--This is a developer’s tool that enables organizations to deploy mapping applications on Pocket PC devices. Once only available to Java developers, it now allows organizations competent in the Windows development environment to utilize the power of MapInfo spatial analysis software for handheld devices. Since MapX Mobile runs on a standalone device, it does not require a wireless connection. For instance, MapX Mobile will enable field workers to take business critical data into the field with their Pocket PC device, gather data while in the field, then transfer newly-entered field data from their Pocket PC device to a traditional desktop and then to a server if required.

    - MapInfo Professional for Microsoft SQL Server--MapInfo Professional for SQL Server is an ideal tool for multiple users of MapInfo Professional that want to use SQL Server to share spatial information across the enterprise. MapInfo Professional for SQL Server utilizes the interface and usability of MapInfo Professional to access and analyze data inside of SQL Server.

The product will take advantage of SQL Server’s sharing, processing, security and scalability features for improved data analysis across the entire organization. With MapInfo Professional for SQL Server, users will be able to access, update and change all shared data so that information is always accurate. MapInfo Professional for SQL Server is an end-user tool, eliminating the need for database expertise.

    - TargetPro v4.0--TargetPro v4.0 is the newest version of MapInfo’s market analysis tool for delivering a complete range of demographic and industry-specific boundary data for improved analysis of critical business information. In addition to the US, this new version will be launched in Australia, Canada, Germany and the UK--enabling analysis across country borders. TargetPro v4.0 will make full use of MapInfo Professional by enabling users to integrate TargetPro demographic updates into MapInfo Professional for enhanced data analysis. TargetPro v4.0 is ideal for field users that want to access data from inside the MapInfo Professional application. For the first time, TargetPro v4.0 users can perform both market segmentation and site location analysis in one database.

    - "Catalina"--This new product leverages the power of both MapInfo Professional and the Web, enabling power users to more efficiently share information across their organization. It is ideal for serving MapInfo Professional maps to non-MapInfo Professional-enabled users via the Internet or intranet. MapInfo Professional users can share work on a browser, so that multiple users can view business critical information when they need it most. By enabling users to view information in a convenient and easy browser format, saved work in MapInfo Professional can quickly be sent across the organization to help improve the accuracy and efficiency of business critical decisions.
