MapCloud - Vancouver, BC - MapCloud Services Inc. announced the immediate availability
of Version 2.0 of FreshMaps?. FreshMaps is an interactive web-based mapping system that
allows Web developers and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professionals to easily
publish map data on the Internet.
Version 2.0 follows on the successful initial release of FreshMaps, earlier this year. Since its
release, FreshMaps has been utilized by a number of companies to visually represent
geographic data, in a cost effective manner.
Version 2.0 of the software is focused on new features and an improved user interface. "In
speaking with our customers, it became apparent that FreshMaps is a very powerful tool, but
it was intuitive only to those with a GIS background." Stated Cory Braden, MapCloud's
Director of GIS. " As a result, we focused on enhancing the user interface, such that
someone with limited GIS background, could easily generate an interactive map." In
addition FreshMaps Version 2.0 includes sophisticated GIS measurement tools and the
ability to place and maintain 'point of interest' buttons on the maps.
FreshMaps is unique, as the user does not require any specialized client software or plug-ins.
The Flash format results in dramatically reduced file sizes, which optimizes system
performance and positions FreshMaps as an ideal technology for wireless applications.
