Map India 2002 is the 5th annual international conference and exhibition in the field of Geographic Information Sciences like GIS, GPS, Aerial Photography and Remote Sensing. Since its launch in the year 1998, Map India conference has been providing a unique platform, representing an entire cross section of GIS community, for sharing their views and ideas on the latest developments, practical implications and advantages in the field of Geographic Information Science. The participants include top decision makers from government and private sectors, existing as well as prospective users, academicians, vendors, policy makers and representatives of various international organizations working for promoting the cause of this technology. This was the largest ever-held conference in the field of geographic information technology in the country.

Map India 2002 programme organising committee invites the submission of ABSTRACTS from prospective authors for paper presentation at the international conference to be held during February 6-8, 2002 at New Delhi India. We look forward for presentations and contributions from the professionals both from the Industry and Academia.

Map India 2002 conference will have the following sessions and authors are requested to send their abstracts, keeping in view the themes/sessions mentioned.

? Telecommunication ? Oil & Natural Gas ? Power ? Highways and Transportation ? Banking and Insurance ? Business Geographics ? Urban / Rural Development ? Agriculture ? Natural Resource Management ? Disaster Management ? Coastal Regulation Zone Plans
Guidelines Submission for Abstracts
Papers are invited on the topics outlined and others falling within the scope of the conference. Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, results and conclusions of the work to be described in the final paper.

Abstracts can be submitted electronically via EMAIL or through post on a neatly typed A4 size paper. Abstract should not be more than 500 word limits and should include the following information:
? Title of the paper ? Name of the Author(s) ? Author(s) Affiliation ? Mailing Address ? Email Address ? Telephone number(s) ? Fax number ? Abstract Text ? A passport size photograph of the Author(s) All submissions must be sent to the attention of:

Note: The receipt of the abstracts will be acknowledged through email within one or two days. If the authors do not receive the acknowledgement they should immediately inquire with the Coordinator (Ms. Sucharita Mookherjee). There will be a continuous review of the received abstracts and the accepted abstracts will be notified by the last week of November. Those authors soliciting individual communication from Map India 2002 committee, for getting administrative approvals from their respective organisations will be sent as per request.
