BOSTON, MA -- August 2001—Applied Geographics, Inc. (AGI), a Boston-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consulting firm, has hired Tom Mayo and Kate Lommen as GIS Project Managers within its Municipal Services Group. Tom Mayo has an MA in Geography with a concentration in Urban Planning from Binghamton University, NY and a BS in Cartography from Salem State College, MA. Before joining AGI, Mayo worked for Navionics, a leading producer of electronic nautical charts, where he was responsible for all aspects of cartography production for the Western Hemisphere. Prior to that position, Mayo was the GIS Coordinator for Town of Framingham, Massachusetts, and taught GIS at Framingham State College.

Kate Lommen has a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, an MA from UMass Boston, and a Certificate in Geographic Information Technology from UMass Boston. Prior to joining AGI, Lommen was a GIS Technician/Specialist for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts, and before that a GIS Specialist for the Center for Cultural and Environmental History for UMass Boston.

Both Lommen and Mayo will strengthen and expand the capacity of AGI's municipal services group, which has project work extending from New Hampshire to Virginia. "We are very pleased to have Kate and Tom join the AGI Municipal Services Group. They will bring added strength and dimension to our growing team”, said Michael Terner, Executive Vice President of AGI and Head of the Municipal Services Group. “Their prior experience performing GIS work within municipal government is consistent with our philosophy of hiring people who have both strong GIS skills as well as the specific knowledge of how municipal government operates."
