Eircell to launch Fleet Manager - a Location Based Service from Cyantel

Ireland, 19th September 2001 -- Cyantel, the Irish developer of location based services has announced that Eircell, Ireland's largest mobile operator, will launch its Fleet Manager service on the Irish market. Eircell is the first Irish mobile operator to offer a branded Internet-based fleet tracking and management solution to its business customers.

Eircell Fleet Manager enables businesses to locate and track their vehicles using a combination of satellite, mobile phone and Internet technology. The service is of particular interest to companies with mobile workforces who wish to maximize efficiencies and improve customer service.

No special software is needed, just a PC with an Internet connection. Joining the service is simple and straightforward. The fact that the solution is Internet-based means that you can access the information from multiple locations - a key requirement in many companies that have staff in multiple locations. "You can even set up your customers to have restricted tracking of a vehicle in a similar way that larger delivery companies like DHL and Federal Express provide parcel tracking," according to Cyantel MD Pádraig Murphy.

Commenting on today's announcement, Mr. Jim Collity, Director of Corporate and Business Markets, Eircell said: "At Eircell we are continually striving to maximise value for our customers. Our business customers, including SMEs, will be able to take advantage of advanced vehicle tracking and management functionality".

About Cyantel

Cyantel is a pioneer in the design and development of wireless location services for mobile operators that are re-branded and sold by mobile operators to their customers. The demand for location-based services is expected to accelerate as operators select and deploy technology on their networks that enables them to determine the location of their customers from their handsets. Established in July 1999, Cyantel is headquartered in Cork, Ireland. Further information is available at www.cyantel.com.

About Eircell

Eircell is Ireland's leading mobile phone operator with a base of over 1.5 million customers and a total of 1,670 employees. Eircell holds 60% of the market share in Ireland. On May 11, 2001 Eircell officially became a subsidiary of the Vodafone Group plc, the largest mobile telecommunications company in the world. It has interests in mobile networks in 29 countries across five continents. In June 2001, Vodafone had approximately 93 million proportionate customers worldwide.
