WOOLPERT EXPANDS GIS SERVICES IN MIAMI

Jump to Website Here
Miami, Florida (September 25, 2001)…Woolpert LLP recently expanded their geographic information systems/information technology (GIS/IT) staff in their Miami office. Increased GIS involvement in facilities and water management projects in Florida triggered the expansion.

Woolpert continues to provide GIS services to multiple county departments at Miami-Dade and has begun GIS conversion work for the City of Fort Lauderdale. This summer, Miami-Dade County Aviation Department awarded Woolpert a second $1.5 million contract for facilities management GIS at Miami International Airport. As a result, Woolpert's work volume in Florida has increased which requires the assistance of several new GIS team members.

Rene Rodriguez joined the Miami group as a GIS programmer/analyst. He is responsible for developing and addressing the requests of clients, providing consultation on computer systems, network integration, and application development. Rodriguez has over eight years of experience in GIS services, and holds a B.S. in biological sciences and environmental sciences.

Alicia Varona joined the Miami office as a GIS technician. Primarily working off-site on the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department project, Varona provides technical support to clients to ensure an accurate update of GIS data. She has four years of experience as a GIS technician and has served as a team leader on several projects.

Jose Blanco serves as a GIS technician. Blanco is a full-time staff member who will support facilities management projects. The addition of these GIS professionals to the existing GIS staff is expected to play an integral part in the continuous success of Woolpert's GIS/IT service line.

Woolpert LLP, nationally ranked in the top 100 in ENR's Top 500 Design Firms, is a professional engineering/architectural consulting firm providing expertise in facilities planning and design, geographic information systems/information technology, photogrammetry, site/civil design, surveying/global positioning systems, transportation, and water management.
