GDT Appoints Bergeron to Head Community Update Program

LEBANON, N.H., Apr 8, 2002 - Geographic Data Technology, Inc., a developer of premier map databases, today announced that Bruce Bergeron will head its Community Update(TM) program ( www.communityupdate.com) designed to create data exchange partnerships with local communities throughout the United States.

GDT's Community Update program provides a mechanism where government agencies, emergency response providers and other local entities responsible for street infrastructure to access GDT's detailed street and address database over the Internet. These agencies can electronically add suggested new features and related information to the data set and submit that information directly to GDT, which will validate the information and add other attributes and enhancements. The revised data will then be returned via the Internet to the local agencies. The agencies are allowed to use the data within their own applications.

In his new role as Community Update director, Bergeron will be responsible for facilitating long-term resourcing and editing relationships with various levels of local, state and federal government agencies in cooperation with GDT's sales, development, and resource and acquisition departments.

Prior to moving into the role of Community Update director, Bergeron had been the head of GDT's Database Improvement Department, which is responsible for the creation and maintenance of GDT's street and address database. Before coming to GDT, Bergeron served as a regional manager for Johnson & Dix Fuel Corporation. Bergeron holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He is the president of the Greater Lebanon Youth Hockey Association and serves as a volunteer coach for youth hockey, soccer and baseball.

"The Community Update program is a vital part of GDT's strategy for maintaining street and address information across the United States," said GDT President Mike Gerling. "Community Update allows us to tap into the local knowledge held by many governmental entities across the country. Bruce's experience leading our Database Improvement Department provides him a solid foundation for creating exchange partnerships with these communities that can benefit both the agency participant and GDT."
