SAI National Dealer Network Offers Airbiquity GPS Accessory with Breakthrough
'StreetSafe' Personal Security Service
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., & BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash., April 8 - Security Associates International, Inc. (Amex: SAI), one
of the largest wholesale security alarm monitoring companies in the United States, today announced the execution of a agreement with Airbiquity Inc. for portable,
GPS-based, handheld (battery) location technology utilizing existing, mass-market wireless phones. This new service known as StreetSafe(TM) offers customers
personal security services through SAI's Telematic Command Center. It offers a unique suite of location-aware services for consumers and enterprises that can be
used with the existing base of Nokia-brand wireless phones compatible with the GPS Accessory.
The GPS Accessory is retrofittable to over 40 models of wireless handsets in the worldwide market today. With the battery attached to a Nokia phone,
high-accuracy GPS information is sent over any TDMA, CDMA, GSM or AMPS wireless network nationwide during the voice call. These include the new Nokia
3285 and any Nokia 5100, 6100, or 7100 phone models. This implementation enables StreetSafe(TM) to be deployed by simply attaching the GPS Accessory to
the phone and making a call to SAI's Telematic Command Center over the major wireless networks, including: AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Qwest
Wireless, Verizon Wireless, VoiceStream Wireless, and WorldCom Wireless.
"With this relationship with Airbiquity, SAI has transitioned security beyond the traditional boundaries of home and office, now security becomes personal," notes
Ray Gross, CEO of SAI. "Now, average citizens can enjoy the same safety that they have for decades in their homes and places of work."
"SAI has shown considerable vision and leadership in being the first to truly offer portable location-based services well in advance of its competitors," noted Dan
Allen, President and CEO of Airbiquity. "The wireless network flexibility of our high-accuracy GPS accessory also provides considerable market penetration
potential for SAI's formidable, nationwide dealer network."
SAI dealers will begin selling the GPS Accessory and the StreetSafe(TM) service this month across all 50 states. The GPS Accessory product is expected to retail
for $99, with StreetSafe(TM) services ranging from $14 to $16 per month.
