Lesley Marino Joins Expanding PCI Geomatics Education Department

Richmond Hill, Ontario - April 23, 2002: PCI Geomatics is pleased to announce that Lesley Marino will be joining the growing PCI Geomatics training team as the company's newest Customer Training Instructor. Lesley will be responsible for delivering industry-proven course materials for all PCI Geomatics earth observation based geomatics solutions, including Geomatica(tm), the complete geospatial software solution from PCI Geomatics that provides customers with remote sensing, photogrammetry, GIS, and cartographic editing capabilities. In delivering these courses, PCI Geomatics instructors are often able to quickly adapt training methods or relate course examples to more familiar references in order to satisfy customers and better facilitate comprehension.

Lesley Marino joins PCI Geomatics after graduating from the University of Waterloo, where she received an Honours Bachelor and Master of Environmental Studies degree in geography, specializing in Spatial Data Analysis (Remote Sensing). During her studies, Ms. Marino instructed various laboratory sessions at the university, including Air Photo Interpretation, Environmental Remote Sensing, and Advanced Remote Sensing. Lesley has gathered extensive experience applying various geomatics software packages, including PCI Geomatics solutions, in many practical applications. While completing her degree at the University of Waterloo, Lesley prepared and led a three-session workshop on using PCI Geomatics Software for faculty and students at the Wilfrid Laurier University.

As a member of the Waterloo Laboratory for Earth Observations (WatLEO), Ms. Marino participated in a variety of research projects, including the RADARSAT-1 Data For Commercial Agricultural Applications program, the AGRECO Crop Monitoring Using casi Data project, the Lake St. Clair Wetlands Project and the Oxford County Radar Experiment. Lesley also participated in the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) - Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) Partnership Program titled "Making Deserts Bloom: Community Action Plans for Restoring Environment in the Thevaram Basin." She also held the position of Remote Sensing Specialist for the Mapping, Analysis and Design group in the Faculty of Environmental Studies, at the University of Waterloo. Ms. Marino holds professional memberships with the Canadian Remote Sensing Society and the Ontario Association of Remote Sensing.
