Emphasizes
Intergraph's
commitment to deliver high-quality enterprise geospatial industry
solutions
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Dec 11, 2002 - Intergraph Mapping and
Geospatial Solutions (NASDAQ: INGR) has reinforced
its commitment to provide the highest-quality enterprise geospatial
solutions by receiving validation of GBC Compliance for its GeoMedia(R)
technology from the SAP(R) Industry Business Unit for Utilities. GeoMedia
Professional is compliant with SAP R/3 Enterprise(R) and
mySAP.com(R) solutions via the latest SAP interface technology, the GIS
Connector Package. This enables ERP users across organizations to
seamlessly access and experience a new geospatial dimension for their
enterprise data, workflows, and processes, allowing organizations to
improve customer service and increase competitiveness. Because of the unique
data integration features included in GeoMedia technology,
geospatial data in virtually any format from the industry's most popular GIS
can now be linked with SAP R/3 Enterprise and mySAP.com
solutions.
"Validation of compliance with GBC is designed to accelerate implementation
efforts for customers as they link geospatial data with their
enterprise information systems," said Dr. Walter G. Kienle, Head of
Development Asset and Work Management of the Industry Business Unit
for Utilities.
The integration of SAP R/3 Enterprise and mySAP.com solutions with GIS
augments the functionality and value of both systems by leveraging
existing corporate data and extending the type of applications that can use
them. Geospatial solutions, based on Intergraph's GeoMedia
Professional, expand essential enterprise applications with localization of
enterprise resources, spatial analysis, and visualization, regardless of
platform - client/server, Web, or distributed computing architectures,
including mobile and wireless devices. Organizations in utilities and
communications, transportation, and government markets that use SAP
solutions for ERP will benefit from the added capability to better
identify, interpret, and plan enterprise resources such as physical assets,
real estate, network facilities, and objects, in combination with
customer, project, address, financial, and land base data.
"The SAP validation gives customers increased confidence in their decision
to buy Intergraph's desktop, Web, and handheld geospatial
solutions," said Bart Hoogenraad, global marketing director, Intergraph
Mapping and Geospatial Solutions. "They know they can implement an
open solution that will efficiently integrate geospatial data into business
systems that is validated by a pair of industry leaders."
Proven technology for enterprise geospatial solutions
With its interoperability, scalability, and flexibility, GeoMedia technology
enables customers to solve enterprise challenges - from planning and
design to implementation, operations, and maintenance. GeoMedia promotes
interdepartmental and interagency data sharing, which improves
decision-making processes. Numerous Intergraph customers around the world
already use GeoMedia solutions integrated with a SAP system.
Examples of successful implementations include:
-- Chemopetrol Litvinov - A key supplier of products for further
processing, especially in chemical, plastics, and
pharmaceutical industries, Chemopetrol Litvinov cares for
personnel safety and the environment. The company's SAP R/3 PM
Maintenance and Repair system is connected to its
GeoMedia-based land information system (ISU). The
implementation links related infrastructure features, such as
pipes and valves, between ISU and PM. Users in the maintenance
area can access ISU data without complicated and delayed
searches, and at the same time ISU users are provided with
relevant information from SAP. The GeoMedia/SAP connection was
implemented for Chemopetrol by Intergraph's Team GeoMedia
Registered Solutions Provider, HSI, and in cooperation with
Logica.
-- NS Vastgoed (Dutch Rail Real Estate) - By integrating key GIS
functionality into the previously non-graphical administrative
system, Dutch Rail has better insight on the location of its
properties and buildings and is better able to determine the
actual status of its real estate. Users across the company can
show business entities in their spatial context from the SAP
R/3 system by clicking a single button. Intergraph's GeoMedia
Professional works seamlessly with the SAP information system
to import and correct geographic data. Visualizing asset data
is helping Dutch Rail to make better decisions on leasing land
as well as maintaining property.
