Next Generation Product Releases Offer Increased Functionality and Improved Usability

ATLANTA, GA. - December 13, 2002 - GE Network Solutions is pleased to announce upgraded releases of its Physical Network Inventory( and Logical Network Inventory( software products. The enhancements all result from direct customer feedback and provide enhanced support for a wider range of telecommunication technologies.

The Physical and Logical Network Inventory products form part of the Smallworld Network Inventory( portfolio and provide the basis for an integrated operations support system (OSS) environment for communications providers. The products model both inside and outside plant equipment and manage end-to-end physical and logical connectivity, supporting a total network model that can be manipulated and visualized at any level of detail. Enhancements to the Physical Network Inventory product include:

    * Ability to capture complex cabling and duct networks within buildings, enabling operators to document the entire cable and duct network from exchange equipment to customer premises.

    * Extension of the cable model to support power cables, power splices, batteries and power supplies, enabling the user to record equipment power supplies.

    * Improved on-screen usability via icon buttons and improved menu functionality.

In addition, the incorporation of the Smallworld Design Manager( engineering management solution gives users a more comprehensive solution for managing jobs and designs. Enhancements to the Logical Network Inventory product include full support for DWDM transport networks, support for Gigabit Ethernet and IP address recording.

Henry Stueber, president and CEO of GE Network Solutions, remarked, "These latest product releases are a great demonstration of how closely GE Network Solutions aligns its product development with customer requirements. These enhancements were made in direct response to customer feedback. The new products will provide numerous benefits to GE Network Solutions customers and open up a wide range of options for new customers."
