FMI’s Marketechnics Selects The Map Network’s New CD-Directory to Reduce Expenses, Unlock New Revenues
Orlando, FL—December 11, 2002—Attendees to the International Association of Exhibition Management’s (IAEM) Annual Meeting will be the first to use CD-Directory, the new interactive guide and directory that joins Tradeshow Map as part of the growing suite of event and tradeshow information services from The Map Network. An online demo of the IAEM CD-Directory can be viewed at: http://maps.mapnetwork.com/iaemcddir
“The benefits of using CD-Directory instead of other directory products can be summed up in three words: better, cheaper, faster,” according to Shane Green, CEO of The Map Network. CD-Directory works great as either a supplement to, or replacement for, printed directories. It can be produced at a fraction of the cost and time required for more traditional products. And, because it’s electronically published, production can begin just a few days before the show date, ensuring up-to-date information, and a better experience for sponsors and attendees. Additionally, all of the event and exhibitor data in the directory is easily accessed by wireless devices.
“We fell in love with the printed maps when we first saw them because they were so convenient and easy to use both at the show and around town,” says Paula Spoto of the Food Marketing Institute. “But the CD-Directory is a genuine contribution to our industry and offers so much more functionality than our old print directory. I’m excited about moving into the 21st century with this product. I know our attendees will appreciate it.”
CD-Directory can transfer contact information from show listings to personal organizing programs such as Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes with a few simple “clicks.” It provides show schedules, exhibitor and product listings, and links to company web sites and users can download vital information to personal calendars and address books. Unlike printed directories, the portable CD-Directory comes with an online version of Tradeshow Map’s interactive city map and tradeshow floor plan, which are accessible without an internet connection.
“I am impressed with the many benefits of Tradeshow Map, both in terms of planning before the show and for getting around once you're there,” says Jeff Ducate, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at IAEM. “It puts everything an attendee needs right in their fingertips, which obviously makes it attractive -- and affordable -- to sponsors.”
Green says the advantage to CD-Directory is the control it gives the show attendee. “CD-Directory gives users what they really want: the ability to get to just the information desired when and how it is desired. No traditional directory can match it.” The growing suite of tradeshow services from The Map Network represents a complete information source that makes planning for and attending tradeshows more productive for attendees and exhibitors alike.
