OPTIMUS Launches Michaels Mobile Light; Wireless Communications System for Highly Mobile Emergency Workers

SILVER SPRING, Md., Dec 16, 2002 - OPTIMUS Corporation, a leader in public safety technology, today announced the launch of Michaels(TM) Mobile Light, the highly mobile version of Michaels Fire and EMS - a comprehensive wireless communications system for emergency personnel.

Michaels provides immediate, uniform access to critical assessment, triage and reporting data needed to effectively mitigate and respond to emergency situations - helping to break down communication and coordination barriers. With Michaels Mobile Light, emergency workers who are on bicycle, horseback or foot are able to quickly perform critical emergency-related activities. Utilizing a ruggedized pocket PC, first responders can easily and rapidly collect patient and field data, and share that information immediately with headquarters and other emergency staff. In addition, the highly intuitive system automatically senses and connects to other Michaels systems in near proximity, following pre-established playbooks to enable compliance with hierarchal command structures. Michaels Mobile Light resides on a Windows CE platform, providing a highly effective and user-friendly wireless network.

"Michaels Mobile Light was developed as part of our goal of providing public safety technologies that ensure the most effective and rapid response available," according to Eric Adolphe, CEO of OPTIMUS Corporation. "Field-based emergency workers can now more easily record information, communicate that data instantaneously, and fully collaborate with other members of the emergency management team."

Developed in conjunction with and fully tested by emergency professionals, Michaels Fire and EMS is one of the only EMS products on the market that is certified under the National Security Agency (NSA) Security Proof of Concept Keystone (SPOCK) program - meeting the highest level of government security standards. This certification also ensures compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Michaels Fire and EMS is part of a comprehensive suite of innovative, customer-driven public safety technology products delivered by OPTIMUS that enable governments to enhance citizen safety and break down communication barriers. With these products, personnel can easily use handhelds, wireless laptops, and other mobile technologies to make critical decisions more effectively. And, with the integration of Geospatial Information System (GIS) - based data display and reporting tools, mobile field personnel, and city and agency managers can collaborate and communicate with significantly increased levels of efficiency. OPTIMUS products are highly secure, user-friendly, and based on open computing and databasing standards.
