Atlanta, Georgia, USA - Leica Geosystems’ GIS & Mapping Division will make its international début of 2002 at the 5th Annual Map India Conference, February 6-8 at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, India. The Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping Division will be located in booths 19, 20, and 21.

“We are pleased to be a sponsor of this year’s conference, as it serves as an important vehicle to introduce the wide breadth of the GIS & Mapping Division’s product line to the Indian market and demonstrates that Leica Geosystems is firmly committed to the development of GIS and mapping technology in India,” said Richard McKay, Vice President, Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping Division.

Leica Geosystems expanded its product areas when it integrated ERDAS® and LH Systems in 2001 to offer customers four ranges of GIS and mapping solutions - airborne data acquisition, geographic imaging, GPS/GIS, and land information systems.

McKay is a keynote speaker on the topic of high-resolution imaging. Kaushik Chakraborty, Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping Division, will present a scientific paper on the use of airborne laser terrain mapping systems. Both sessions will support the conference’s twin themes of “Maponomics” and “Power on Demand.”

As the largest annual event in India for GIS, GPS, aerial photography and remote sensing professionals, Map India 2002 presents a unique opportunity for the GIS & Mapping Division to showcase the potential of these solutions to an ideal audience in one of the fastest growing GIS markets in the world.
