Kodak and Webmap Announce Web Portal Agreement

Precision Aerial Imagery Of Major Metropolitan Areas In Australia now available through Kodak

ROCHESTER, N.Y., February 4, 2002 -Eastman Kodak Company’s Commercial and Government Systems (C&GS) unit today announced it has signed an online distribution agreement with Webmap, a leading provider of Australian Earth imagery products and services, to market and sell their high-resolution aerial imagery of Australia through Kodak’s aerial imaging Web site. This agreement expands Kodak’s online aerial image offering making it one of the largest databases of high-resolution aerial imagery.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kodak will haveexclusive Internet sales rights worldwide for Webmap’s complete national data set of Australia. Customers can access the data set directly through Kodak (www.kodak.com/go/earthimaging ) or through Webmap (). The data set features major metropolitan areas in Australia including Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

“Our Earth imagery helps provide answers to customers’ very distinct business questions,” said Max Elbaz, Chief Operating Officer & Vice President, Kodak Global Imaging Inc., a subsidiary Eastman Kodak Company. “Whether they need to correctly position a cell tower or analyze the path of a tornado to adjust an insurance claim, customers can rely on our distribution partnerships as yet another avenue to obtain high quality aerial images”.

“Webmap is delighted to partner with Kodak to offer the Webmap data set of Australia,” said Peter Tomlinson, Managing Director, Webmap. “We are sure that the Kodak e-commerce site is the most technologically and commercially advanced way for Webmap to distribute its high resolution Australian imagery to the world.”

All of the Webmap Australian imagery was captured on Kodak aerial films, including the new Kodak Aerocolor III Negative Film 2444.

This agreement is Kodak’s most recent contribution to infoimaging - a $225 billion industry created by the convergence of images and information technology. Three markets characterize the infoimaging industry: devices, infrastructure, and services and media, such as Kodak aerial imagery.

    Eastman Kodak Company and infoimaging

Kodak is the leader in helping people take, share, enhance, preserve, print and enjoy pictures -- for memories, for information, for entertainment. The company is a major participant in “infoimaging” -- a $225 billion industry composed of devices (digital cameras and PDAs), infrastructure (online networks and delivery systems for images) and services & media (software, film and paper enabling people to access, analyze and print images). Kodak harnesses its technology, market reach and a host of industry partnerships to provide innovative products and services for customers who need the information-rich content that images contain. The company, with sales last year of $13.2 billion, is organized into four major businesses: Photography, providing consumers, professionals and cinematographers with digital and traditional products and services; Commercial Imaging, offering image capture, output and storage products and services to businesses and government; Components, delivering flat-panel displays, optics and sensors to original equipment manufacturers; and Health, supplying the healthcare industry with traditional and digital image capture and output products and services.

Kodak's Commercial & Government Systems (C&GS) unit provides innovative infoimaging solutions for business and government market needs. This includes aerial and industrial film products and services; digital imaging systems for commercial imaging satellites; optical systems for land and space telescopes; remote-sensing imaging products, services and systems integration; image and data analysis, visualization and application development software; and custom image information solutions. For more information about C&GS, please visit their website at

C&GS’ aerial imaging products include Kodak Citipix imagery (formerly Kodak Earth Imaging Products). Citipix imagery is off-the-shelf, high-resolution color and black-and-white orthorectified as well as georeferenced aerial imagery with metadata in CD, tape, and print formats. The extensive coverage of Citipix imagery is targeted to commercial industries such as architecture, engineering, construction, telecommunications, utilities, insurance, and real estate. C&GS features a Web site for the online sale of the Citipix imagery, which can be found at .

    About Webmap

Webmap is a new commercial entity primarily established to provide a single source of image data sets via the World Wide Web, to a range of consumers throughout Australia and the International market. Webmap is a venture established by Airesearch Mapping, a long standing and respected provider of aerial imagery in Australian and overseas markets, and Boustead IT who are involved in GIS and IT solutions through part ownership of ESRI Australia. Webmap has chosen Eastman Kodak Company to bring this extensive image collection to the world through the Kodak earth imaging products store http://www.kodak.com/go/earthimaging. A broad portfolio of image sets is available from Webmap, ranging from single frame prints of rural Australia through to high-resolution orthorectified colour imagery over city centres. The imagery is comprised of specifically commissioned 'spec' photography and collections of pre-existing archived photography. In addition to the city coverages, Webmap is developing a National image catalogue containing the latest aerial imagery available across all States and Territories of Australia. Due to the brokering, warehousing, effective distribution channels and technology, Webmap is in place to offer cost-effective data solutions to the spatial data community.
