TELCONTAR SELECTED BY YAHOO! TO PROVIDE SOFTWARE TO DEVELOP LOCATION-BASED SERVICES FOR NEW YAHOO! MAPS

SAN JOSE, Calif. – March 12, 2002 – Telcontar, the provider of a leading software platform for location-based services, today announced that Yahoo!, Inc., a leading global Internet communications, commerce and media company, used Telcontar’s software platform to develop the location-based services for its new Yahoo!® Maps web site (). The advanced location-based services Yahoo! developed with Telcontar’s Drill Down Server include improved driving directions, route calculation time and map rendering, as well as more complete geographic data.

"We are thrilled that Yahoo! recognized Telcontar’s expertise in providing a flexible, cost-effective platform for the development of location-based services," said Eric Carlson, president and CEO of Telcontar. “This was a great collaboration on the part of both companies.”

The Drill Down Server provides fast access to maps and spatial data in order to enable a variety of location-based applications. It is data density independent and able to rapidly query multiple layers and types of spatial information. In addition, the Drill Down Server is map database independent so multiple sources of data covering the same geographic area can be used to provide “best-of-breed” support. These features enable application developers to obtain optimal coverage of geography, population and points-of-interest. About Telcontar

Telcontar is the provider of the premier software platform for location-based services. Telcontar's clients use its Drill Down Server to offer their own customers such services as driving directions, real-time traffic information, and maps. The company’s services are also used by emergency response call centers as well as for fleet tracking and dispatch. The company specializes in integrating digital maps with content drawn from multiple sources. Telcontar is privately held and headquartered in San Jose, California with field offices in Los Angeles, Houston, and the United Kingdom.
